Ministry in the Philippines
Incredible opportunity to serve! Despite battling two typhoons causing a major delay in beginning to preach the Gospel in public schools, I was able to speak 15 times resulting in 6,102 salvation decisions--this is not a typo.! All praise and glory be to God! I wish you could have been with me to see the seriousness of the young people when I explained how to receive Christ. Then came the sinner’s prayer asking Jesus to enter their hearts and lives as they put their faith and trust in Him. They understood the message of God’s grace and love. There were three schools where the children or teens were so, so quiet before God, humbly praying to receive Him. The quietness was so spiritual, so holy. Did they truly understand? You better believe they did! Who will do follow-up? My translators were Filipino pastors who will check up on the students. And, of course, the Holy Spirit is already at work in their hearts. One high school meeting with a student body exceeding 1,200 stood on the basketball court covered with a large roof. A little over 1,200 of them are now believers, born again. Only eternity will reveal what God will do with this large group of young people. In another school one of the teachers, a Christian, told me she had been praying for some way to reach her students for the Lord. She said that my translator and I were an answer to her prayers. Her eyes were rimmed with tears as she smiled. I encouraged her to disciple her students since this is the next step. She quickly took the challenge. An elementary school with 430 students is a special memory for me … every one of them came to Christ. Every one of them! Two principals told me that I was the first white person her students had ever seen or heard. These students “mobbed me” surrounding me looking at me and smiling. When our ride came to pick us up the children surrounded the car trying to prevent us from leaving. It took quite a bit of persuasion for them to move back to allow us to depart. WHAT’S NEXT? Glad you asked. Word of Life Costa Rica Director, Samuel Pabon, asked Stephanie and I to come to their youth camp, January 12-17, 2026 to be the guest speaker. Pray that I will be used mightily of God to reach young Costa Ricans with the Gospel. Air travel will cost $2,655 for both of us to fly. Housing and meals should run about $850 for a need of $3,505.
